Antifragility

Competitive advantage from change.

The Antifragility workshop is a follow-up to the Fit for Future workshop. Its goal is to ensure that the chosen development actions not only solve today's challenges, but also build an organisation that learns, renews and grows stronger in the midst of continuous change.

A team working together in a strategy workshop.
Workshop

Duration 3–4 hours. Can also be run as a full day.

In the Fit for Future workshop, the organisation identified its strengths, development areas and priorities. In the Antifragility workshop, we ensure that the chosen actions build an organisation that is change-capable and future-strengthening.

The outcome is a concrete action plan that makes development learning-oriented and experimental — not just another plan left in a drawer.

Programme

Four steps towards antifragile development.

1

Introduction: Why development alone is no longer enough

A changing operating environment, resilience vs. antifragility, and how an organisation can benefit from uncertainty and change. The outcome is a shared understanding of why development should be viewed from a new perspective.

2

Reviewing development priorities from the perspective of change

The development areas identified in the Fit for Future workshop are brought back into focus. For each priority, we explore what changes might affect it, which assumptions might prove wrong, what happens if the environment changes quickly, and how the priority could become stronger precisely because of change. The outcome is identified risks and opportunities.

3

Building antifragile ways of working

The most important development targets are selected and planned so that they enable rapid learning, include safe experiments, continuously use customer feedback, do not rely on a single solution, and grow stronger through experience. Antifragility design tools and canvases support the work. The outcome is development actions turned into learning experiments.

4

First experiments and a learning plan

A concrete implementation plan is created: first experiments, what to track, how we know we are succeeding, what to do if assumptions prove wrong, and how to gather learning for future decisions. The outcome is a practical action plan for the coming months.

Outputs

After the workshop, the organisation has:

  • 1Development priorities reviewed from the perspective of change
  • 2Identified risks and opportunities
  • 3Antifragile operating models for the most important development targets
  • 4Concrete experiments and a learning plan
  • 5A model that helps the organisation grow stronger through change
Who is it for

For organisations ready to turn development into a competitive advantage.

The workshop is designed for organisations that have already identified their most important development areas and want to ensure that their development work delivers competitive advantage even in an uncertain and rapidly changing environment.

Especially useful when you want to move from planning to experimentation and learning.
